Muck-O Bonsai Muck Keto Soil For Making Kokedama, Kusamono and Seki-Joju (accent plants, rock plantings and moss balls)
Muck-O is ideal for all your Kokedama (moss balls), Kusamono (accent plants) and Seki-Joju (rock plantings). The purpose of Muck-O is to hold it's shape while providing soil for the plant you are working with. Muck-O retains a lot of water and when used with rock planting for trees like junipers and pines, be sure to use a base of substrate then build the walls around the substrate. This will provide additional drainage for trees that like drier roots.
Muck-O is modeled after traditional KETO-TSUCHI from Japan. Keto is basically the dead material from the bottom of rice patties. This muck uses Michigan Peat, Long Fiber Sphagnum Moss and Akadama. Muck is also known as Japanese peat muck, peat clay, rise muck and peat muck. Although recipes differ around the world, the primary necessities are drainage, moisture retention and structure retention.
When you really need to muck things up, use Muck-O
Muck-O does not ship out of the United States.
Fun product many uses
Service and credit are very good!
I chose this soil to redo my tree Kokedama. It arrived fast and I was pleased to learn it was local too! (PA) Came packaged safely and was already moist and perfect. It was easy to form and stuck together well.
love it mucko is the way to go A PLUS
I like this muck. I have always made my own in the past, but I used potter's clay which always ended up shrinking and cracking when it dried. This product uses akadama as the 'clay' portion, which holds it together, but doesn't shrink up.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERSAsk a Question
Is it ready to use, or do you rehydrate it? What happens if it dries out....is it like raw ceramic clay in consistency? Add water if too dry?
Ready to use, yes. If it dries out, you rehydrate it.
It is not and does not contain any raw clay.
What size is the bag?
The 2 Pound bags are about 5" x 8" x 1.5". A similar size as a bag of Keto from Japan. The size of the bag can vary as it goes by weight and the bags are cut to length as needed.
What is Muck-o made out of. I want to make a kokodama staghorn.
