The Superfly Bonsai kit includes the seeds of the Flamboyant Tree (Delonix Regia), Sacred Fig (Ficus Religiosa) and the Purple Orchid Tree (Bauhinia Purpurea). These kits were developed and instructions written by professional bonsai growers to give you the best chance possible for success.
Level 1 Kit - This kit includes everything necessary to get your bonsai started and growing along with detailed instructions. Level 1 kits include the seeds of three bonsai trees, coir biodegradable starter pots, expanding soil wafers, plant markers, bonsai shears, bonsai instruction book and a quick start guide.
Level 2 Kit - This kit includes everything necessary to grow your bonsai for the first 3-5 years. Level 2 kits include the seeds of three bonsai trees, plastic germination pots, professional germination soil, plastic bonsai training pots, plastic bonsai drip trays, premium bonsai soil, natural based bonsai fertilizer, bonsai shears, bonsai instruction book and a quick start guide.
Level 3 Kit - This kit includes everything necessary to grow your bonsai for the first 5-10 years. Level 3 kits include everything in level 2 kits plus starter wire and a soil scoop. The plastic germination pots were replaced with a reusable six section mini greenhouse to make sprouting your seeds much easier.
Please Note: Finished Bonsai Are Not Included, this is a seed kit to grow your own. Extra seeds are provided as not all seeds will germinate and grow - this is just nature. Each batch of seeds is tested prior to shipping and germinate at 80% or higher. Many factors can contribute to seeds not growing or plants not making it. Superfly Bonsai is not responsible for seeds that do not germinate or plants that die. We have taken every precaution possible to help you be successful with your bonsai kit. To help with seeds that did not grow or trees that died, we created a seed replacement pack for $6.00 plus shipping to give it a try again. If no seeds germinated, you did something wrong - likely a temperature problem.

My flamboyant tree is starting to grow
While doing the kit it was very clear the water they tell you to add to the soil disc is wayyy too much so I ended up wasting one and having to use my own soil. Then I just eyeballed the water for the other discs. Seeds have not sprouted yet from this kit but it has only been a few days. Otherwise the kit was very nicely packaged.

how do you use the starter kit I have never used one before
There is a booklet and set of instructions included with every kit. It was written by bonsai professionals, and is very easy to understand. Perfect for novice to advanced! How long does it take for these trees to grow ? From seed? I’m 60 years old Will i still be alive to start trimming and pruning them ?
These seeds are like any other tree seeds. They sprout then grow some each year. If you want a show quality bonsai in 2 years, buy a pre-made bonsai as these will take 10+ years to be a good bonsai. You can begin working them on year 2 or 3 depending on your goals for the tree.
How is the drainage of the germination soil?
The drainage soil is organic high porosity soil and is used for germinating the seeds and the first 6 months to year only. So basically it drains about as well as germination soil can and still be good as drainage soil. I would not use it for bonsai in bonsai pots.
I have cats, are this plants safe to have around them?
Some are toxic to dogs so I can only assume that they are not good for cats.

Plants + Trees Shipping: Shipping may be delayed to prevent the tree from sitting in a warehouse over a weekend or holiday. Most trees ship Monday-Wednesday. We do not ship trees to PO, FPO, or APO boxes. We also do not ship trees out of the continental US or to California.

For calculated shipping rates: All orders (under $99 USD or Wholesale) will be presented with shipping options that are calculated based on the item weight, box size, and distance from our shipping location. We currently only use Fedex.
Free Shipping: All RETAIL orders over $99.00 USD ship free within the continental USA. Free shipping will be the lowest cost option from FedEx.

How do I Check the Status of my Order?
When your order has shipped, you will receive an email notification from us which will include a tracking number you can use to check its status. Please allow 48 hours for the tracking information to become available.

Refunds, Returns, and Exchanges

Show Pickup & The Superfly Express
We attend 7-10 shows a year (if not cancelled), mostly on the east coast. Please check our calendar to see if we may be attending a show close to your location, and we can arrange to bring your order for pickup at the show. No minimum.
We started the Superfly Express shortly after the Covid-19 pandemic started. We did this as a way to get products to wholesale customers with no shipping fee. We basically will deliver your order on one of our trips to your area for free if the order is over $1000 and you are close to our route. We will also deliver retail customers orders over $1000 if they don't want to utilizer our free shipping for whatever reason. We currently only travel east of the Mississippi river and have 4 routes.
